Being able to offer service around the clock is extremely important as clients are calling all the time and we don’t want to lose any of them. Yet, closing time is very important for internal productivity.

When a business closes, work can pile up, calls can get missed, projects can get behind… Well, you know it is not always pleasant to answer 30, 40, or even 100+ new emails every morning. On top of that, it’s hard to find people who want to work the night shift at any company– That lifestyle is not very appealing, neither healthy.

My solution was simple, hire people on the other side of the world who can manage our big translation projects, get caught up on work, answer phones and more. So far, we’ve hired people in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia to make sure that we are caught up on work at all times. This has been the single-most-important decision in our productivity because we never get behind on work.

When our employees get into work, they don’t have to worry about catching up on paperwork, returning phone calls, or anything else, because everything has been done for them during the night shift. This has also had other positive effects on our company that weren’t expected. It has reduced stress greatly for our employees which has, in turn, reduced our employee absence rate. They don’t get sick as often because they are not under as much stress and feeling behind!

Furthermore, it builds a great team dynamic. When you know that you are relying on others to get work done, turning in projects at night so that the morning shift can have everything that they need to be more productive, you work harder to make sure that you don’t disappoint your team.

In closing, hiring employees all around the world in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Oceania, has allowed our company to be more productive, stress free, and increased our morale and teamwork. I recommend that, if you have a heavy workload and customers at night, you do the same for your business and at least hire a night time employee.
