Hearing someone saying Merry Christmas even if you do not know the person makes you smile warmly and greet the person in return.
Christmas, a time to celebrate, a time when families gather, a time when spirits are high and people share more with one another. Christmas is a holiday that is celebrated in different ways by peoples of different faiths. For most, especially the children, it is a time for receiving and giving.
Some people think that Christmas is getting too commercial, and for some, they want it banned. But how will you stop people from observing this holiday, when it has been an age-old tradition that has withstood the test of time, in more ways than one? However, it cannot be discounted that Christmas in the modern world is totally different from the Christmas of old. That is why, for some people, Christmas does not have any legitimate meaning. Maybe it is because most people have been lost in the glitz, the tinsels, extravagant presents and fairy lights.
Maybe it is time that people go back to the tradition of celebrating Christmas simply, with a meal shared by the whole family, by exchanging simple yet meaningful gifts, by sharing blessings with other people that are less fortunate, or by expressing their faith.
Christmas does not have to be an expensive holiday. Exchanging a “Merry Christmas” greeting with people, even those that you do not know, together with a genuine smile is enough to warm someone’s heart.
Whatever your faith is, whatever your language is, it is music to the ears when you hear the words, MERRY CHRISTMAS!
